A large number of smuggled vehicles were seized in Indonesia. The strict inspection in the entire Hong Kong will be extended by 30 days in May.
Indonesian customs authorities have cracked a major vehicle smuggling case at the Semarang port, seizing 52 containers and 1,727 unlicensed vehicles (including cars, motorcycles, and trucks), with an estimated value of around 100 billion Indonesian rupiah (approximately 50 million RMB). The smuggling gang had been smuggling over 50 containers and more than 1,000 unlicensed vehicles from the beginning of 2025 to April 2026, with a total value of several billion Indonesian rupiah. Coinciding with the national anti-smuggling campaign and the high-level anti-corruption purge within the customs, the anti-corruption bureau has directly intervened, and law enforcement has been unprecedentedly strict. The customs clearance in Semarang has been delayed by at least 30 days (expected to resume in mid-June), and the Surabaya port remains paralyzed. A large number of cargo owners have turned to Jakarta (which is already overloaded, with customs clearance taking 7 to 14 days). Jakarta has implemented a policy that "goods exceeding 30 days in the supervision warehouse will be confiscated and auctioned", and Semarang and Surabaya will follow suit. The "grey clearance" model has come to an end.

Shipping suggestions:
Give priority to Jakarta: Avoid Semarang and Surabaya for the time being, and choose compliant customs clearance in Jakarta.
Compliance first: Do not underreport or smuggle goods, and prepare complete documents such as SNI certification.
Adjust the cycle: Extend the preparation period and reserve **30 days +** customs clearance buffer time.
Use air freight for urgent goods: Due to severe congestion in sea freight, prioritize air freight channels for urgent goods.
