Effective today! Indonesia implements mandatory license management for the import of six types of pr

Starting from today, traders and freight forwarders who export agricultural products to Indonesia should pay attention. As of May 8th, Indonesia has officially implemented new regulations on agricultural product imports. Six types of products must obtain a license before importation; otherwise, they will not be allowed entry.

According to local media reports, this new regulation was issued on April 24th this year, with the aim of improving import policies, maintaining domestic supply and demand balance, and ultimately protecting local producers' prices. This regulation will include six products - feed wheat, soybean meal, green beans, peanuts, rice-based feed, and horticultural products such as pears - in the list of restricted imports. The process is much stricter than before. Importers must first obtain technical suggestions from relevant ministries, then apply for an import license from the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, and the entire process must be handled through a unified electronic system. Moreover, some products have special requirements. For example, imported feed rice must submit a commodity balance document, and imported pears must provide proof of ownership of the cold storage and inspection reports, etc. Today is the first day of the implementation of this new regulation. How it will be specifically implemented still needs to wait for feedback from various enterprises and subsequent detailed adjustments. For those countries engaged in the export of feed raw materials and fruits and vegetables, in addition to preparing licenses in advance, they also need to promptly understand the changes in the new regulations to avoid problems such as customs clearance being blocked after the goods arrive at the port.
